Hi Steph?,
First, enjoy your rekindled youth in the TR. Just soak it up.
I have a comment on your solution to this errant mechanic.
I found that mechanics really change their tune once a guy confronts them.
My ex wife used to get real upset that the mechanics suddenly became nice and super polite after I had visited them about the problem. (Why did they not take her seriously she asked)
Workshops often treat women differently, sad but true. Send in your husband or another male friend.
Yes, I know this probably makes you feel bad but........ It might be qicker than the other processes. Also, decide upon what your bottom dollar would be, the minimum refund you will accept to get it over with and move on. Give your man this information and see what happens.
Finally, do something rather than nothing! You see, in this situation the mechanic has all the power and has left you powerless. I was taught as a young insurance agent to take the power back when someone abuses you (sometimes happened when cold calling on the telephone). Walking away leaves an emotional chip off you.
What was the innsurance training? This:
In my training I was told to call the guy back and tell him and say "thanks for what you said, it really helped me.....surprised silence from the abuser.... you see our research says that only 1 guy in 100 is a(&$&()*%$# like you so the next 99 people will be normal" then hang up on him before he can reply. This really takes the power back and feels great!!!! No residue unhappiness.
Use what ever means you have to take the power back. I do however recomend that you send end in a guy first for a guy to guy talk.
regards,
Jolyon
