I don`t know why things like this annoy me, but they do. After all, it is just somebodies opinion. However, after a very quick glance, I notice they have included the Jag X type and Fiat Multipla.

The X type may not have been a "real" Jag and the Multipla may well have been rather unusual to look at, but you could hardly describe either as one of the worst cars of all time.

That list should be subtitled "according to popular misconception, so I`m jumping on the bandwagon".

AT least we know that we own the BEST worst cars in th e world!
Incidently, i was out in my auto yesterday evening.I spotted and
flashed a white TR6 and the driver gave me the foulest glare! I just
smiled to myself,if only they knew what they were missing,eh?

That list is utter drivel from begginnig to end and im not sure quite how the criteria for worst car has come about. The Stag was arguably one of the best vehicles ever to come out of the UK industry as was the E-Type. Anyone who thinks that the Jaguar V12 wasnt one of the finest engines in the world to this day needs mental help!!

If you are judging my reliability alone of cars circa 1970's then there should be a good few Ferrari's and Lambo's on that list.

hi,
i guess we have to accept that the TR7 has baggage as they say
all that industrial unrest and poor build quality
has coloured subsequent generations view of the car
it was bought by people at the time in reasonable numbers though
who cares what people think?
who cares that some people have a classic car snobbery about TR7s?
it was never the car it was meant to be perhaps but then what car of its time was?
I quite like the fact that im driving a car that younger people
look twice at and wonder what it is.
I quite enjoy the occassional sarcastic comments
and rude gestures from other drivers when im stuck in traffic
its all part of the appeal in a way i suppose!!!!!!!

If they keep publishing articles like this, the value of TR7's will stay low compared to other sports cars and we can afford to buy one. [:)]
Or Two.
And if you stick a V8 in, you can have the performance of a car costing a lot more money.

My Dad was looking to buy a nearly new Stag in the mid seventies but then stories about over heating engines hit the headlines. A local mechanic had to fix two that had masses of casting medium (sand?) left in the engine's waterways from new which clogged the waterways.

I worked in the Henlys wholesale car department for two weeks in 1980. Their storage was littered with cars suffering from defects straight out of the factory. Jags, Rovers, Triumphs, Austin, Morris and MG's with duff paintwork, ill fitting doors, blistered paintwork, oil leaks, leaking windscreens and windscreen wipers that fell off in use letting the arms scrape the screens etc. Some cars had gone down the production lines and been painted colours that weren't even available for that model! (How did they do that?) There was also a small pile of TR7 FHC's that weren't going anywhere fast, some close to a year old.

i've owned 2 spitfires, princess, two dolomites, tr7 fhc, mini spec.
and now a clubman and a Tr7 dhc, all of that cars never leave me alone, they runned always, but there were always minor things that refused.
In that time a had also cars like renault4, ford 12m, alpha romeo and they were not much better.
Only thing when you had bought an english car, your money was away too, because they were difficult to trade in.

Yah but you can make them better. A club member has a Stag that is immaculate, he did a total restoration and it looks as good as any modern car you care to name. As he said, they have worked out the kinks, solved the overheating problem, installed the double row timing chain and gears. It is one beautiful car. It always got good reviews as a good highway cuiser.

By the way I had just parked downtown the other day and a fellow walked up and said "you don't see these around any more. My friend had one and I had a X1/9 and we used to go everywhere up and down the west coast. We said we were driving the two doorstops." He couldn't believe it was an original condition car. His friend that was there said he was thinking of getting a convertible and wanted to know if you could put a golf bag and cart in the back. I told him it was designed for two gold bags but I hadn't tried to put my cart in it yet.

Same day I was at a friends place and her grandson walks up and says "nice sportscar mister." The little ones always know.
