New Book - Club Offer

Postby rugbyref1 » 03 Jun 2015 16:07

Buy the book - help the Club!

Steve Jackson has written a new book for about the TR7 which i am sure you will enjoy! Now the publishers have agreed to make a donation to the TRDC for every book purchased using the coupon code SJTR7 - it'll cost you nothing but the Club will benefit and it'll help fund new parts, etc. This offer is limited till the end of July but is NOT limited to the UK and the publishers will post Worldwide ... go to http://www.lilypublications.co.uk and remember to enter code SJTR7 to get the club a donation!

Blurb
"Codename Bullet was British Leylands audacious bid to conquer the North American sports car market, in order to earn the vital export dollars needed to re- invest in their ageing model range. Undeterred by draconian US safety and emission regulations, they stepped boldly forward as European manufacturers retreated. BL was blighted by poor industrial relations, lack of investment and economic crises that devastated British industry. The purpose-built Triumph factory at Speke was closed three years after the TR7 launch and production moved twice before cancellation in 1981. A similar project in Japan created the Datsun 240z, demonstrating how an opportunity had been squandered, but British Leylands launch of an under developed car administered a fatal blow to the companys battered reputation, increasing reliance on government aid and accelerated a cycle of terminal decline. Book ordered thank you, but there was no prompt to enter any code...I entered it in the 'Comments/Additional Information' box which may not be obvious to the publisher.

Just a thought that it may be worth pointing that out to them and asking them to look out for TRDC codes entered there.

Ah, I missed the chance to enter a coupon code which isn't in the most obvious of places!
Just alert them to the odd incompetent then (me...).

My copy has arrived in the post today. BLOODY HELL! I can't believe how well this has turned out. What a great piece of work. Yes, I'd read Steve's early draft but I had no idea it would look this good once everything was set out and all those fabulous photographs had been added. A great layout. A great little book. Congratulations to Steve Jackson on a very worthwhile project that will add much to the history of our cars.

Very, very highly recommended. I think even Mildred will buy this one :D .

Well my copy has arrived today and I am very impressed with the format and production of this book. There are plenty of fascinating historical photos as well as some very impressive members' cars featured.

I'm looking forward to reading Steve Jackson's thoughts on the TR7 and British Leyland in general - Steve and the publishers have done an excellent job with this book.

I'll add my recommendation to John_C's, and remember to enter code SJTR7 (somewhere!) to get the club a donation.

Many thanks for the Club's support with this project. I will be bringing FMN2D to Billing with co-pilot Geoff Dunkley, and we will be joined by Keith Redhead in his TR7V8. Looks like we are in for a good crossing! I will have books available should anyone require them.
