to mudflap or not

im having a do nothing day looking at the tr already decided i could do with some overmats see link to protect grey carpet. after suggestions pictures

next on list. to mud flap or not ? thoughts and suggects rimmers do some are they factory items or ss do some no pics on there site or revington list some gac646 gac647 or these factory or universal pictures would be good fitted to your cars so i can compare

I can certainly see where they would be of benifit as the slightest mudpuddle goes up the side of the car. I elect to suffer without though. The flat black is easy enough to touch up if needed. And I just can't see me doing a track day with mudflaps.[:D]

I don't like aftermarket mudflaps as they tend to trap mud and crap between the flap and fender to retain moisture and promoting rust in an area that is rust prone anyway. As far a protection I go back to two years ago on the way to car show with twenty plus club cars where it rained for about 30 of the 100 (for me) miles. There was just a little dirt on the sill of the car that was quickly handled with a few swipes of a damp rag to keep it pretty for the rest of the sunny day. It has surprised me a number of times how little dirt gets thrown up the sides.

These are Rimmers mudflaps, but they're quite old so don't have TR7/8 printed on them. Easy to fit, just a couple of bolts. They do come with a couple of brackets to fix them to the inner wheelarch but I haven't used them as it saves drilling more holes in car.

I used threaded steel rivets to mount the mudflaps.
Fitted the rivets before car was blasted and coated ...

That's a great idea, didn't even know you could get threaded rivets. Should make for easy removal & no rust problems. I did pre fit mine before I painted the inner arches & greased the bolts before fitting so they should be fine.

Took me approximately 5 minutes to fit all four mud flaps a few days ago ...



I've used stainless Allan head bolts with a non conductive anti seize compound, so should be easy to take them of if neccesary.
