SHADOW has a brother!

Postby AlisonTR7 » 17 Apr 2010 21:44

So we were spotted at Coleford, our TR7 V8 Grinnall SHA 160W will definately be attending Billing this year and will be on the look out for the other 'Shadow' car. Perhaps we can get some pics of the cars together.[;)]

Hiya,
Yes we are the new owners of SHA 160W, we've owned the car for 18 months and love it. We've given it a new blue mohair roof as the old tan roof needed replacing. We also had the wheels spruced up as they were looking a little sad, we had them done in silver rather than the gold they were before. Think the car looks much better.[:)]

can someone please confirm UK reg. plates is it the first three letters that tell you the area it was registered, if so mine was from waddingham stringer dealership which I belive was Northampton, which would meen all three shadows were also possibly from there
and they must have had a run on cavalry blue that month[;)]

I believe to locate a registratin plate area it was the 2nd and 3rd letters, in our case HA was originally from Dudley, West Midlands area. On the copy of the original vehicle reg document for our car it was first registered to BL Cars Longbridge, Birmingham. SHA 160W came out of the factory in Aaron Beige, it was resprayed to cavalry blue sometime during the late 1980's.

Quite right, the 2nd & 3rd letters show the area of first registration. Down in this part of the UK for example, *AA indicates Hampshire & *LJ is Dorset. I think the 1st letter is just allocated at random to make up the series.

So, anything registered *HA will have been first registered in the same area but not necessarily by the same dealer.

Ok looking at the service record it says on pg.2
in the vehicle id. section
hand written:
bl cars ltd
mcp nor@@@@@@@ "cant read the writing"
longbridge, b,ham

my mistake the dealer stamp who sold the car was,

Charles clark group fleet ltd
wolverhamptom road
wedges mills
cannock

and it had its first & second service at wadham stringer northamptom & the original owner also lived in northampton

the car was first purchased 29-05-81 so which is big brother[:)]
