Gas tank is hard to fill

Postby Tom M. » 07 Mar 2010 19:30

The gas pump keeps clicking off as I try to fill the tank.

Has anybody seen this before?

Thanks,

Tom M.

I usually have to give it half trigger for a few seconds before the gas flows freely enough to use full trigger. After that it fills at full flow.

There's a fairly tight bend in the filler pipe.

Tom, are your tank breather, gas vapour separaror, charcoal
canister, & vacuum lines to your carbs all clear, to allow the air
out when filling?

just back the pump nozzle of 1/4" so the end of the nozzle isn't touching the little bar that runs across the filler tube and all should be well but start slowly as mentioned before other wise you will get spattered

It rides again..... and again wehey!!!!!!!

It could just be a US spec thing, too.

My 7 is as good as gold.

My ex US 8 has a different structure in the top of the filler neck,
& is a fair bit slower, & requires more care when filling.

I always fill with partial lever so I don't get any flashback with all my cars so don't have any problems. Some pumps are more sensitive than others.
