Digital clock in the dash

Postby UKPhilTR7 » 18 Nov 2009 16:05

I have been thinking of taking out my clock and replacing it with an oil pressure gauge. With this in mind I have been looking to place a digital display clock on the dash somewhere. Not too sure if I have asked this before, but has anyone done, which ones have you used and has anyone got any pictures or the finished article? Also I know you can get displays with outside/inside temp and things like this. Has anyone gone down this route?

Wouldn't suit me, that's where my GPS goes. [8D]

Anyway my clock works perfectly.

There is a clock in my stereo, another in my GPS, yet another in my cradle mounted phone And the one in my dash works too. I've got too many of the bloody things! How many clocks does a bloke need in a car?

Exactly - I have a handy little clock strapped on my wrist - it works fine! I've never been able to understand the need for a clock in a car. I just wish I was brave enough to attempt the oil pressure conversion - I have all the parts - but fear the dash will never work again if I take it to bits!

I did purchase an extra pod, so the original is still there...

Yes - well I too have a spare dash pod - but it's the earlier style - mine is the later type with the re-set knobs coming through the clear plastic, the spare needs cables and I don't have them!

Dannys looks neat. I left my clock where it is (it still works!) but put the oil pressure and vac gauges in the gap below the lighting dimmer with the cooling fan warning light and override switch. These were 50mm gauges mounted on a 10mm timber/packing panel (sprayed grey) which allows enough space behind for the depth of the gauge. A clock could be mounted in this position.

I did try this and fitted one just in front of the gearstick in the gap below the heater controls,, but found it drained the battery when the car was not used for a month and as you say there is one on the radio and satnav
