Where Best to lift????

Hi Guys
I was wondering??where is the best location to place the floor jack??
If you are interested in lifting the car in the front middle???

I lift under the center of the subframe at the front and under the diff at the rear.

Subframe works for me. It's also a good test of it's metal to rust ratio. [:D]

Otherwise there are pegs underneath at each corner of the cabin section that indicate jacking points if you are just doing one corner at a time.

DO you guys Mean
dead center under the motor ,in the middle of the x?
If this is so?
would this not pressure the bushings ?
They only support the motor/instead it would support the car ?

If you think of it the sprung entire weight of the front end of the car is supported by the subframe whenever the car is on the ground, so it's not all that different when the car is jacked up
I am always really leery of using sheet metal jacking points on old cars. The subframe is usually protected from corrosion by the automatic chassis oiling system found on most TR7s. [;)]

I use the subframe but put a timber pad between the jack cup and the subframe. I have never tested the rust to metal ratio and prefer to spread the load across it a bit and protect it from the lugs on some of the jack cups.

No, you Bozos have it all wrong! Here in the machine shed, we mystically levitate the car with the powers of the Cosmic Consciousness. Then we set it down on some cinder blocks left over from a tornado proof outhouse project. Why do you people always want to do it the hard way?

Exactly the same for me. I lost the ability to levitate with cosmic consciousness some time in the 60's. I think it was some bad "stuff" that was in circulation.
