Bad Show

Postby RUDDY » 26 Aug 2009 13:34

Now I know this isn't TR related but gotta feel for these people.

Have just heard that yesterday Donington Park contacted the Ford RS Owners Club and cancelled their National Day which was booked for 27th September, they have offered them a new date in two weeks time, this is due to early commencement of building work for next years F1.

The club have accepted this date but obviously all their event advertising in magazines etc has stated the original date, there are a lot of upset people, the club has a big following in Ireland and those guys had booked accomodation, ferries and in some case flights that are non refundable nor transferable.

Personally I think they should have pulled the plug for 12 months as it is short notice to re-advertise, contact traders etc etc, could break the club financially if its a poor turnout, seems to me across the various BB's that its a 50/50 so far those who can still make the new date and those who can't, hope the weather don't play any further bad luck as from experience I know Donnington can charge upwards of £40k for the venue and thats a lot of people to get through the gate at short notice to break even.

So, if you know someone who was intending going on 27th Septemeber please inform them that the revised date is now the 13th (omen ?)

cheers, Paul

RSOC for 21 years, expired last month but I am still in the TR Drivers Club [:D]

Donnington is under pressure from F1 to get something done quick or lose it to Silverstone for next year. Everything else comes second. Unfortunate for those you get caught in the backwash.

Silverstone lost the F1 to Donnington park because they were outbid. The people who run F1 went to the highest bidder to hold the event.Silverstone is a better venue anyway with superior road links among other things however the mud car park is not good. They were looseing mony on each event so Donnington are welcome to it but they should be prepared.Bad management I recon 'heads will roll' [xx(]

I usually take my Focus RS to Donnington, I wont be able to make the new date though. Pity as I was looking forward to it.
