Engine Bay Bling

I have no doubt that I will be nicely out done on this, but I have been busy blinging up my engine bay with some powder coated rocker covers, chrome, alloy pipework and silicon hoses. Still plenty still I want to do and try but pictures are below.

Has anyone else been tarting up the engine bay? Not just V8's maybe?? [:D]

very nice wayne i see you got your silicone hoses sorted.....
ive got a few pieces put too one side that should bring mine up too scratch[;)]
of course thats when the garrage owner can be ar$$ed getting his finger out[:(]

Very nice work! Looks great.

On my previous 8 I did the rocker covers in black wrinkle-finnish. They came out really nice when I was done. Same for the wheels too. On my current 7, if its a good enought runner when Im done puttin it together, I may wrinkle finnish the rocker cover on the 4cyl too. Other than that Ill just keep the engine/engine bay clean & save my serious detail work for my next TR8 [8D]

Looks good. If you want a bit more flash, the overflow tank can be wire brushed, polished and clear coated, it is brass.

That looks great, Wayne. I've been working on my engine which is now ready to go in. I've pimped the rocker cover, carb dashpots and air-filter box on the engine:

I've also had the windscreen wiper cover, motor cover and bracket done:

the bonnet stay:

and the water bottle bracket:

I've repainted all the braking and clutch components gold (the colour they were when I got the car):

The subframe has been completely refurbished, along with new track-rod ends and steering rack gaiters:

and looks like this when fitted back onto the car:

I have tried my best to make the car look good, and while I realise it will turn the guts of the purists, I hope I've succeeded. At the end of the day I reckon it'll look great.

I hope to get the engine in over the next week or so and just hope it looks as good as yours, Wayne.

Just sorted the parts that need to be coated for my DHC project, will be something completely different [:)]

Those plastic parts like the water bottle and master cylinder will clean up real nice with a toothbrush and some bleach.

Hi Mac, try what i did with the plastic bottle etc, try using a little milton, its gentle on plastic too, the 7 looks great, keep in touch mate.

No, just keeping 'er stock and clean. No chrome, aluminum cleaned with metal cleaner. Robin's Egg blue on the worm drive on the jubilee clips on intake tubes is stock colour (same colour as the oil filter canister.)

It's a sterilising solution for baby's feed bottles etc

Thanks for the tips on bleach and milton, I'll give them a go. To be honest, I never even considered either of them. Keep the tips coming - all are very much appreciated in the quest to make my engine bay look great.

Perhaps the best tip will be my own - don't ever start the engine!! Only joking, I'd love this car to be a daily runner soon, but who knows.

Hi Spyder, yes sorry i should have put Milton sterlizing fluid, it does seem to work a treat, on thing like that in fact i even use it on our water feature at work it not only cleans it up, but less likely for Algy to biuld up, hi bushey hope you are well, Mac let me know when you are next about.
