My 80 US model also has the sticker on the instrument panel and around the filler cap. It's a late 79 build in reality, to the point that on the bonnet there are two emission sheets, one stuck on top of the other one.

am pretty sure british cars weren't needed to be able to run on unleaded until 1989, i had a late 89 sierra with the dohc engine which was unleaded and was replacement for the pinto from that model on due to unleaded being introduced so the tr7s were way too early in this country to need an unleaded only sticker, i may be wrong tho and no doubt someone will possibly know more accurate data.....

"Unleaded fuel only" had everything to do with the catalytic converters that were used on the cars for the US market.
