"Genuine" RHD TR8 on Fleabay

Postby REPLIC8 » 19 Apr 2009 14:31

Not sure about this car. It's advertised as genuine UK spec RHD TR8 but the vin number suggests it's a USA car. The interior is wrong and it's got USA rubber bumpers. They're asking £8500 which is a lot of money. Maybe Chris Turner knows something coz it's got his old number plate on it.

Hi,
MGF VVC wheels as well, that sort of money would be nice for it to be 100% as it left the factory. I am sure Chris will be able to shed some light on this one.
Cheers John

Its my old car, was Midas gold now painted Persian aqua, it is RHD but definitely not UK spec. When I owned it the car was in superb as new condition so will still be a super car if the paint job has been done well, but no longer standard. It won the Overall best car at Malvern in 2001, the only wedge shape TR to do so. Featured in July 2006 Classic and Sportscar magazine. I would have loved to buy it back and re paint it gold but the arrival of my Burgundy TR8 means I dont have any more space.

I would like to ask the members of the forum to refrain from commenting on the changes made to this car, it is for sale because of tragic circumstances and the new owner was a good friend.

Sorry to hear that Chris. Looks to be a really nice car. Shame when a situation forces a sale of things we care about. Recent bad times have made me think often of letting some of my things go. Hard decissions for sure. Especially when, in my case, so much of your own hard labor is in them. Hope he gets a good price and it helps with his problems.

Thanks for the answer Chris, sorry to hear about the circumstances forcing this sale. Hopefully it will go to someone who knows what they're getting & maybe return it to it's former glory.
As I started this thread, can I be the one who stops it.

The End
