Thanks Paul

How was the grip? Not very good!

I had a choice of my "wets" - Michelin road tyres or my dry tarmac tyres (Avon Historic rally tyres).

As it was the cold wet north west I used the Michelin - there was even hail and snow at one point!

On the 3rd from last stage it had dried out so we put the Avons on and they were brilliant - so much more grip and I really felt the confidence growing.

2nd from last and it lashed it down again but was dry again for the last stage - again the tyres were good.

Speeds? No real chance to look but did see 55 - 60 once. More importantly perhaps 6500 RPM in third!![:D]

The chicanes were very tight but great fun - hell I have no idea about how to drive really but I just "threw" the car at them[;)] Didn't think I was going to make it once but did, then found the tail sliding out and just "kissed" the barrier with the nearside rear. No damage but a couple of scrapes in the paint which should polish out - if I had had wheel arch extensions on though they would have been ripped off.

It is a spectator venue so you can see us in action if you wish[:)]

I now have the mudflaps on the car that the scrutineer wanted, just have to fit the clear plastic film to the door windows now[;)]

Sure Steve,

Somehow I missed this during the prep but on page 307 of the 2009 Blue Book it says under 269 F

"Side windows if of glass must be laminated or toughened glass and if toughened glass must be coated on the inside with a clear transparent safety film".

If a rally car had it's comp log book before Jan 2009 there's a transition period but if, like mine, it was log booked in 2009 you must have this straight away.

Like everything else Demontweeks supply it - it's called "Foliotec" or something similar and for comment about fitting it see my latest blog entry. There is more than enough to make a cock up (as I did), cover both door windows (including quarter lights) and have some left over.

Monthly update.

I have done very little to the car in April as it ran just fine on the Roskirk Stages.

Just fitted the mudflaps and window film the scrutineers wanted. Other than that a little bit of tidying, protection for the fuel pipe and all levels checked etc.

Next Friday it's sort out the spares, tools etc and load them up with the car to head off for scrutineering on our next event.

The rally we are at is next Saturday, May 9th at Blyton airfield, Lincolnshire. This is south of S****horpe on the A159 .

I would expect the rally will start at about 9AM and finish about 5PM - spectators are allowed and I think there is a small fee as it's supporting Pendleside hospice near here - it's the Jack Neal Memorial rally.

Any support for a TR7 is is very welcome - here's the latest entry list!

I am very sad to day that I think the Project Manx dream is over

Yesterday, whilst collecting the spares and tools together for the Jack Neal Memorial Rally I collapsed in my garage.

I am "fine" now after a visit to hospital but I expect that after further investigations I will be diagnosed with epilepsy (after a similar incident 18 months ago) - the MSA will not allow anyone with this to take part in stage rallying.

It's going to take some time to come to terms with this if it all pans out as I expect but, rest assured, there'll be some other cunning plan in due course.

OK - a further update.

I have been diagnosed with epilepsy and, as a result, the MSA won't let me have a stage rally licence to drive for 10 years if I have had no seizures and not been on medication.

I can get a comp licence to co-drive if I have been seizure free for 5 years(even if on medication) so that's the plan now.

2015 or maybe 2016 for the Manx with me reading the pace notes for Sarah in my car[8D]

Do you like my mesage on the bootlid by the way?

There's no way I am giving up and I am not selling the car!
