TR7 FI Spider Fuel Pump?

Postby jclay (RIP 2018) » 26 Feb 2009 21:28

Hi,

Does anyone one know that kind of fuel pump and where it might be fitted on a FI Spider?

Thanks,

jclay

My EFI 81 is not a spider, but if it's the same, here is a picture. located in front right side of gas tank. Filter under cover below.

Hum? I saw something that looked like a filter there, no wire connected.

Speaking of wires, is the fuel pump hooked up like the TR8 fuel pump? Only pumps when the starter is turning or the Oil Pressure is up?

The filter sits below the pump. On the picture in pup's post, the filter is sitting behind that metal bracket hanging under the pump.

The pump should run when for a few seconds when the car is cranking, and then cut off if it doesn't start. It has more to do with the air flow sensor showing that air is flowing (motor on) than if there's oil pressure.

Here's the best view I've got on my Spider.

You can see the pump above the silver (aluminum?) bracket with the filter below. There are a number of aftermarket fuel pumps available. You need one that pumps 50lbs. pressure, not sure of volume.

Go to:
http://www.rockauto.com/ and you will find a bunch.
I think the original was Bosch.

Some FI's had two filters but I don't think any Spiders did.
