Come on summer!

Postby Orophin » 19 Jan 2008 22:15

Ahhh I'm getting very impatient that its mid January and my TR7 is still under a cover with dodgy pieces of string around it. I should be driving the damn thing in the sunshine! Anybody else got the winter blues? Who's got there car on the road?

My full restoration is now two years old and so far the body is fully restored and sprayed cellulose black. (see my youtube clip). All the suspension is rebuilt and back on the car. Over Xmas I fitted the uprated brake master cylinder and all of the new brake lines. Installed the engine, gearbox and exhaust system. Should start on the wiring next week. Anticipate the car will be on the road June/July this year. Every evening I go out to the garage and I have promised myself I must fit at least 1 item. It now really feels like I am getting closer to driving it. One year in it felt like it would never happen and I am sure if it wasn't for the support of all of you on the forum I may have given up.

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

Yeah, I've my '75 TR7 on the road. Just got back with my wife from a trip downtown--and it was snowing! And the car did great! (The wife too, for that matter.)
The trick is, however, that it's a FHC, so...
But it's not the first time I've had her out in the snow, and it won't be the last.
Best,
wilkpauled

Well, I'm unlikely to get my 7 anywhere near snow, without driving
about 1,800 Km first.

I have, however, done between 400Km, & 1000Km every month, in mine,
for the last 6 years.

Have you ever thought of moving to a climate more suitable for your
taste in cars.

I have often wondered how the UK, with its climate, was home to two
of my favorite sports. Driving around in small, wet, breesy motor
cars, & sailing around in small, wet, breesy yachts.

I totaly agree with that line... just over twelve months ago i was ready fo giving up and with the rot i had who would have blamed me (i know i haven't gone to some of the lengths samco has but.....good job fella its looking very sweet at the moment) if it wasn't for advice and encouragement from both you guy's S&S Prep, and the like "pimp my ride" might have been my only hope... and what a mess they would have made of it
so next time you all have drink raise your glass and and have a toast to us all..... for keeping the mark alive
Cheers to all Garry

Roll on summer.............oh yeh....... i'm enjoying the winter rain with the heater blowers on full blast and the hood up ive not driven it in the summer yet still to come.........

Yep,

Out and about at the weekends if it's not too cold and damp. I bypassed the heater when the matrix / seals let go some time back. Got to get to it sometime soon. Will probably sort it out when I fit the uprated servo / master cylinder that I recently bought to reign in the V8.

Cheers,

Adam

Crumbs majority of people have there 7's on the road! Nice one. haha Hasbeen you made me chuckle, I would love a warmer climate. But then it's like too hot in the summer ain't it? England's pretty much like that in the winter to be honest. My FHC is going on the road march/april depending on my money situation and the weather. And I wish I did have a garage to use! My car may not exist by the time summer comes...[:(] But this weather is just so horrible and last summer was awful too, so I'm hoping this summer will be really nice. [8D] Just a few mods I want to get sorted first, but I want to drive it for a week or two first. But it's only two months away![:D]

Mine is an everyday driver now, 25 miles across town at about 70mph on a good day, about 10 on a high traffic day! If it doesn't stop raining, I will have to attach pontoons on the sides and hook a propeller to the drive shaft!

Sure wish the heater worked. It did in 2002 but not now!

Dont know whats matter with you all, I have 2 on the road this winter, heater matrix just changed on the FHC which is the normal winter car of the 2. We even have organised runs this time of year. The winter Monthly Monday Evening meets of Club Triumph regulary have 7 or 8 Triumphs ranging from Early Heralds to my late TR7 fhc, and some of them are more prone to the weather than mine.
