Rimmers Uprated Rear Spring Fitting Kit

Hi All,

Merry Christmas to you all, hope you had a good one!

Im taking advantage of the christmas break off work to get a few jobs done on the car. I have a set of uprated lowered springs to fit to the rear AND a Rimmer fitting kit for them that Im told is required. Question is, how does it fit?? I get no clues from the parts book and the staff at Rimmers have no idea either (typical) apart from to say that somehow they hook over the rear coil. I was provided with 8 x L shaped pieces of metal (4 per spring) with a slot in the longest part and a nut and bolt for each. The part no. for this kit is TKC3300URFK.

Does anyone have any pictures of these installed they could post or any diagrams. I cant seem to see how it hooks over the bottom coil to remain in place??

First check if they are really needed, sounds like they are to prevent the spring from dropping out on full droop. My lowered springs (just) don't fall out.
I know I have something like that on my little Landy. Do you have a picture of the brackets?
Or use two webbing straps underneath the axle ...

Yes - the idea is to stop the short springs falling out. A simple rebound strap (as per MGB etc) would be MUCH better. My short rear springs don't quite fall out either.

They look useless. I suggest you put the springs in and see if you really need anything. Maybe even some thick tie-wraps would do the trick.

Wayne,i fitted uprated,lowered springs to my v8.You
dont need those brackets as like bmc'and beans say-
they "dont quite fall out" either.What i did do was
to fit poly spring seats which will be firmer for
longer(oo'er'missus!)than stock rubber ones.This
will help springs remain in place.

.. So I see the like Cable brackets (clamps) if I will see there a problem we will make a bether version [8D]like the anti Dive kit

The real answer of course - used in many other cars when they are lowered - is to have slightly shorter dampers. I assume no-one makes a suitably shorter damper ?

It is easy to reduce the full extension of any repairable shock.

Simply take the thing apart, & add a thicker bump stop on the shaft,
above the piston.

If such a part can not be found, simply machine up, a metal spacer,
of suitable thickness, & fit above the piston, with a standard bump
stop above, & below it.

This is a very good reason to buy your shocks carefully. It is
generally only the better quality shocks which can be taken apart,
for repair.

Most better shock suppliers in Oz will supply suitable shocks, with
the extension thus reduced to prepaid order.

At the bottom these little brackets probably fit on the bump on the training arm that the spring sits onto. (You'll need to drill a hole in the middle of the bump....) but at the top, I don't quite get what they have in mind...

I had to make up my own brackets after I took my newly completed car into the tyre place for wheel balancing and tracking, they jacked it up on to the lift and the spring fell out onto the workshop floor...Just how embarasing[:I]??

I'll post a couple of pictures if I can figure out how to do it...
