Hello,
I am Terry, the guy that purchased Brad's last TR8. I also purchased his FI TR7, and one of his multiport GM/Rover FI systems as well as several other items.
I wouldnt begin to consider myself a "guru" though. And, I am in Missouri, not MI.
Yes, Brad is done altogether with the TR7/8 business. He is very busy at his full time job at the Jag dealer and IMHO has just lost interest in the Triumphs. His interest seems to be in Jags now. It seems sad that someone once so passionate about the Wedges now seems to have lost all interest.
He lists his primary reason for leaving as not having any time. But every once in a while it slips out how cheap and rude some of us can be and it is obvious to me with all the hard work and dedication he gave to the Wedge that it truly hurt him that people could be so rude and unappreciative. A recent example is of a guy that gave him all kinds of trouble because he wouldnt break up a set of his heater knobs to sell individual knobs. A set of 4 knobs is $25. Now that is cheap. Before he started selling them, finding a single one in usable condition often brought $25 plus on ebay. A set of 4 brand new ones for $25? How can you argue that?
If I had to guess, Brad probably ran the business at a loss. I dont blame him for getting out.
I have spoken to Brad on quite a few occasions and can say he is one of the nicest people around. We even had a disagreement on a parts purchase, but I was never rude and I am pretty sure he would agree. However, I know people have been down right awful to him.
I am very sad to see him go and hope one of the other vendors takes on some of his projects like the sun visors, one piece carpet kits, etc. But I am real confident if they do, the prices are going to go up.
I am excited to get the TR8. I plan to pick it up next week and drive it back. Brad did high quality work so I know there will be no problems with the 300 mile drive.
Also, since I purchased his TR8, I am unloading all the parts I have gathered for the converting a TR7 to V8. Need something?
