custom dash

Postby stevie_a » 05 May 2016 21:43

I have a question :
I am doing a custom dash for the car, i have tried two or three fuel gauges and finally found one i like.
But with all of them when you drive the gauge needle fluctuates to much.
How do i fix this ?
If it's not broke don't fix it.

Hi Beans

I have had so much problems with the fuel gauge, i have independently wired a new gauge, so i have nothing in the line for a voltage stabilizer.
going what you say the Low fuel warning switch is a stabilizer ?

I also notice the Rimmers quote a as a TKC4017 Is a Fuel Pump Assembly - Cranked Lever Type - Push On Connections

If i want to add a separate Low fuel warning switch just for the fuel gauge, how would i wire one up ?

The standard gauge is so designed that it does not need a voltage stabiliser. Some gauges are damped and some are not,I have cars with both, the non damped one swings about as the fuel sloshes about. Some research is needed. The low fuel relay is a heated wire which bends and turns on the light so made so the lamp stays lit and does not flicker. Not much help to you but good fun with your dash.Steve

I have e-mailed the gauge manufacturers, they have asked me to fit a second earth to the float in the tank.

I have my doubts, but will try.
