Wheel wobble - where did it go?

Postby dursleyman » 26 Apr 2016 14:06

Been out for several runs recently and it only dawned on me reading another thread that the slight wheel wobble I used to get has disappeared. I haven't done anything particular to get rid of it, it just isn't there anymore.

This post was probably a BIG mistake but I just had to tell someone!

Threw a wheel balance weight so the wheels are now back in balance? :P

May be you have moved the car more. Many of our wheel wobbles are simply flat spots on the tyres from sitting for too long in one spot. It usually takes 10 kilometres or s0 to work them out of the tyres after a long sit.

I have not used the car much recently. I went on a club run recently. It was for us a cold day. I noticed my wheel wobble, although very mild, was more than I will accept, & made a mental note to plan time to balance my front wheels, with my on car balancer in the near future.

4 hours later, on the way home I realised my wobble had disappeared. I realised then that it had been flat spots causing the wobble to persist much longer than the 5 or so miles it usually takes.

These tyres are less than a year old, so perhaps these kumho things are more prone to flat spots. What ever the case, it tells me I should use the 7 more often.

Few more days out planned, and the Bullet Run to come in June, so that will put plenty more miles on the car and we will see if my luck holds.

Fingers crossed.

Agree with Hasbeen, my cars often have a vibration after they have been standing for more than a few weeks.
But it always disappeared within 25 km or so. If it persists that's a sign for some maintenance on the front suspension
