Wiper Delay unit

Postby DJV » 19 Feb 2016 18:02

I have one of these mounted on my car but not connected, but I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with using one of these...good or bad. This will help me decide whether to give a go or not

Assuming you mean the Lucas 6DA unit, I used to have one on a MG Metro many moons ago.

I found it quite useful although it was just one speed.

To install it was a question of disconnecting the multi pin plug from the wiper control arm and plugging the respective bits into the 6DA. However there are some 6DA units around that have wider shorter connections.

I remember reading on this forum some time ago that the pin outs could be different as well.

If I remember correctly, you gave the wiper control a quick flick to activate it and another quick flick to deactivate it.

Well....tried it out this morning and it works a treat....easy to switch both on and off....well impressed and gives some 5 secs or so delay to the wiping cycle. :D

Might have to fish one of mine out of the parts box then and give it a try.

Just a point of note that if you do give yours a whirl......you need to run an earth to one of the mounting screws.......so avoiding the possibility of a schoolboy error !
