Boot Light Switch Wiring

Postby TonyS » 25 Jul 2015 11:50

I know that it's not the most complicated part of the car but could someone please post a photo of how their boot light switch looks in situ?

Ours was faulty and I seem to have too many spare wires none of which obviously connects to the new switch that I want to put on :?

It does, thank you!
How is the wire (wires?) connected into the back of that spring loaded switch please?

Just one wire, comes from a spade connector on the back of the switch. the Earth is picked up through the body (black wire).

Looking at the photo, the black metal part that hits the switch to make the contact has a locating tag that fits in a hole so that it hits at the correct angle.

Looking at the postings on boot struts, is the one in the photo the wrong way round?

Brilliant, thanks for that, I can see which wires are redundant on mine now!

Good point. Made me go down and look at mine. The other post said the strut guy said the shaft should point to the front. Mine point to the rear like the above photo. Now it was 8 years ago when I replaced them but I'm pretty sure I put them in the way the originals were. I'm pretty good about doing stuff like that and usually do one side at a time so I can refer to the other as necessary (as well as take pictures). With shaft pointing to the rear it is easier to give them a wipe with silicone sprayed rag to keep them clean and lubricated (which I do with all my struts, Integra, Toyota). Either the strut guys was wrong (not sure of his reasoning) or it doesn't matter.
