Starter motor seal kit

Postby navydiver » 12 Jun 2015 19:28

Has anybody come across a source for the lucas starter motor seals? I'm guessing they must be out there as the normal sources and a few others are offering rebuilt starter motors. I've done a couple of internet searches a couple of people list them but then they are NLA. main one I need is the boot that goes on the nose of the solenoid.
cheers

What seals are you after, I don`t want to show my ignorance here but I didn`t even know there was such a thing, having said that, apart from taking a solenoid apart I have never stripped a starter down.

there is one that goes over the nose of the clutch assembly on the solenoid and one on the rear over the main shaft. you can see them here item 1 [http://www.revingtontr.com/CatalogueImages/TR7/2C-09L.jpg] it's mainly the one over the solenoid I need, mine has dissintegrated. they seem to come with the replacement solenoid but that seems a bit of an extreme solution for what is probably a cheap seal.

Ah right fair enough. Maybe a daft question but have you tried S&S / Rimmers etc?
