They're cibie look-alikes, made by a company called sim. Four original cibies upfront would cost a fortune and as these are in full view i didn't want scratched second hand items either so had to find a cheaper alternative. You'll find them on Fleabay, now with free Cibie lamp covers. Sods law, i had to buy mine seperately! They use H4 lamps too so give you hi - low beam. i have no idea why that's of any use though.

They really do look the part on the car, even more so when i get round to fitting the rally graphics. There's just one problem though, some of the graphics are on a white background and this really shows up the cars off white paint job and it just looks plain weird. I'll probably have to respray it, quite like the crisp brilliant whites the beemers and audis are using. Looks like i'll be doing my first paint job, yet another learning curve!

You have just improved the car 1000% What about the spotlight steadies?

I strived for originality too (in all aspects) but in reality nobody has really ever noticed little deviations that have had to be made along the way.

There are only a few "experts" out there and they will never see your car as anything other than a replica. The other 99.9% of people will just admire the car for what it is.

Ditch the vinyl graphics and commit!

Regards Steve

I have 4 x spotlamp steadies ready to fit. I need to get the lights wired up and aimed correctly before fitting the steadies because it seems i've only got one shot at getting it right. Drilling holes in the body and getting it wrong would not be good!

Thanks for the kind comments, i've always had this vision of opening the garage door and having a 1970s rally car staring back at me. It gives you "that" feeling if you know what i mean! I've a long way to go yet, stripping the shell and giving it the "Beans" treatment, LSD, Strengthening the rear suspension mounts, attempting to gusset the front turrets or maybe just getting a full on roll cage, etc etc. Oh and i really, really must uprate the brakes[:I] I am now 100% committed. I know it will be nothing but a replica but it will be my replica[:)] and most people as you say will not be bothered either way. As for the rivet counters who approach giving it (in their best train spotting voice) "that's not the correct shade of white" then they will be told where to go[:(!]

So, by suggesting to ditch the graphics do you mean spray it instead? Can be arranged[:p]

Rob.

They look very nice indeed, the right type of lights for the car [8D]

Hi Stephen,

I didn't actually measure anything[:I] i cut up 4 lengths of flat bar (6mm x 40mm 314 stainless), pushed one of them through the hole where the brackets exit the plastic trim between the bumper and body then marked up where to bend and drill them. I'll get some pics and measurements of them fitted to give you a better idea.

Rob.
