Windscreen supplier

The good news is I can get a windshield from VB or Moss. Rimmer has them as well but I'm gagging over the cost. Total US$ 325 to 350. Rimmer is $560. Does anyone have a US supplier that may be more reasonable?

Nick, try SAFELITE Glass. They installed one for me a cople of years back.. Google is your friend with an 800-XXX-XXXX.

I tried safelite a couple weeks ago. They couldnt find me one. I called other glass shops near me (Bristol PA) and only found one...$535.00! Used seemed impossible to find around my area.

Woody Cooper of the Wedge Shop (Mass) has new and used in stock, but he does not ship them. I ended up bitin the bullet and buying a new one from VicBrit, just got it last week.

When the paint shop broke Orange Rag's son's DHC windshield (which ironically had safely removed and set aside), they could only find one for $2,000 or some such price that somebody was ripping them off with. Ron called me and I suggested Octagon Motors in Vancouver. An hour later he called me back thanking me for the heads up as they charged $250 shipped to the Island (had it in stock). Now I would be surprised if you had to pay more from VB but you might give them a call as it's a lot closer to Vancouver, BC than Kansas.

Wow. One advantage of living in hicksville.

We still have little back street manufacturers.

When I needed a screen recently, the local glass/windscreen company
quoted 2 days to make & supply, & did it.

Cost A$230, which is average for local windscreens. In the mass
after market for popular makes, they are now competing with imports
from China. These are so thin, that they are failing very quickly,
out here on our country roads.

I've noticed that. Being in the middle of nowhere (not a put down)with it's intrinsic high costs, there is a market for, as you say, backstreet manufacturers.

Another example you've given before is the repressurizing of trunk gas struts. There is one company in Vancouver that does it and guess what. He's from New Zealand!

I got my screen from Octagon as well after the glass shop checked their computer and said there weren't any in Canada.
Sometimes specialists will go the extra mile where the glass shops prefer to go after the easy insurance work.

My glass shop can get one from Pinkelton for $385. Moss motors for about the same with shipping. VB is about as cheap as anyone I have found even with the $125 for shipping.

Just an update on Vic Brit's windshields......just got mine & installed it last night in my 7.

The ones vicBrit supplies are made in Taiwan [:(!] (I dont like Taiwan made stuff.) But since I got it and need it to get my car inspected I installed it. Windshield trim didnt seem to fit properly. I dont know if the trim is tweaked from removal or if the cut of the new windshield caused its slightly off-fit. New 'shield seems thinner than original, lighter too.

But nonetheless my new windshield is in. Only time will tell how long it'll hold up over the years/miles.
