Factories

[jclay (RIP 2018)]

I keep getting the factories mixed up. What were they and in what order, what were their production dates?

My car was built in August of 1979 and has a TCT Vin number. Where was it built?

Which cars had the medal medallion on the front of the car? My car is a 30 anniversary car if that helps.

Speke 1st, Canley 2nd and Solihill last.

Sep 1974 Production starts at Speke
Jan 1975 TR7 Launched in the USA
May 1976 TR7 Launched in the UK and Europe
May 1978 Speke closes, production line moved to Canley
Oct 1978 Production starts at Canley
Jul 1979 Convertible launched in the USA
Mar 1980 Convertible launched in the UK
Jun 1980 TR8 launched in the USA
Aug 1980 Production ceases at Canley
Aug 1980 Production starts at Solihull
Oct 1981 Production ends.

The Solihull cars got the enamel badge on the nose.

Production at Solihull was phased in April of 1980 as Canley was being phased out. My spider was produced at Solihull in July 1980. Canley closed in August 1980.
