1975 Triumph TR7 Sprint - KDU 366N (KDU366N)

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Looks very good and steering lock is the LHS on early cars, same as my sprint. I always get in the car and try the key on the RHS!

Hi Roy,

Looking good mate 8D and going in the right direction.

Andrew, is it the switch on the end of the ignition barrel you are looking at ? I often get caught out between the FHC and DHC, not only is the ignition key on different sides but the indicators and wiper stalks are opposite too, not sure what BL's thinking on reversing them was ! Who knows why they done a lot of things :o)

Cheers John

Good to see a job like this in progress and admire the effort going into it.
I was surprised to see the coil appears to be mounted low down below the clutch master cylinder. Is that where they go on these early cars?

That's where Yellow TCT's is mounted (although the brake Master is on the other side of course). It is a little low and exposed to water being splashed up although it does have a rubber cover to the top to protect it.

Earlier cars had the coil on the bulkhead, I think it moved to the inner wing with a long king lead when production moved to Solihull.

You are making great progress Roy, considering the limited daylight this time of year, and the boring necessities of life like having to go to work getting in the way.

Still all that good progress will come to a halt as soon as I get down there to help :D i will, really ......

the indicators and wiper stalks are opposite too, not sure what BL's thinking on reversing them was

The indicators on the right is the right way round for a RHD car, so you can change down for a corner and indicate at the same time. But they changed it so the were the same as LHD cars so they wouldn't have two sets for a model. I think there are some Jap grey imports that are still the right way round.

One of my older 7s and my doly sprint came with the indicators on the right, but I kept wiping the windscreen every time I came to a corner, and had to turn left every time it started to rain, so I swapped them round.
