Is something missing?

Despite a new hood water is still dripping on the seats.After looking at some other DHC's there seems to be something they have and that mine does not,is there in fact something missing(Not the ridiculously expensive plastic doorseal finishers)

Is the rubber seal still in place at the bottom of the leading rail of the hood frame?

A few parts missing there, seal XKC3848 and finisher YKC3376/7
Although the latter shouldn't be that much of a problem. And yes these door seals were replaced for slightly longer ones ...



Also look how the hood sits against the front screen surround

Thanks for the photo that is indeed the missing part.The hood seal is intact and the leak is only at the corners but unfortunately due to the curve of the screen it falls directly on the front of the cloth section of the seat,I will have to order some.Do they glue onto the screen pillar?.Thanks Steve..

All my stuff is original and the hood is a bit stiff (being 34 years old) but it only leaks when coming to a stop not on the seat but on my wrist where I grip the steering wheel. The design is such that you will never get a good seal at that spot. When driving it doesn't leak so the solution is don't stop. I suspect those missing pieces will help when on the go but a small band aid on a bigger problem.

Same problem,it leaks when parked and as my legs are comically short the seat is under the steering wheel so it would be protected by my wrists if I were to sit in the car permanently.Seriously it does look to be a dubiously designed part with all the slopes running towards the interior.Still I feel as though I must give it my best shot,surely they would not have put on those seals unless experience showed they were needed,would they?.Steve..

The last time the 8 was caught out in rain was a few years ago, & it had been a few years since it had happened. It was one of our 2" in an hour thunderstorm, so pretty wet.

The stitching in the mohair top must have shrunk or something, as water came in through every stitch. It actually ran rather than dripped in through the rear window stitching.

It must have poured in through the gutter stitching directly above the seats, while it was parked at the airport for 20 minutes. This highlighted one disadvantage of rubber diaphragms in seats. They hold a pool of water waiting for the next bum to occupie them.

Fortunately a couple of spray cans of 303 waterproofing fixed the problem. I had to spray the whole hood, as it altered the appearance of the hood enough to see the spray lines when I just did the seams.

Correct. And as a result easily damaged when removing them.
