Brake Calipers

Postby rugbyref1 » 06 Nov 2014 06:54

I'm getting some brake calipers professionally reconditioned for a few restoration projects that are underway ... am I correct in assuming that the correct colour is gold electroplating?

After seeing some great work by Bigg Red by a fellow forum member,I will be using them - they have already offered me a small discount as I am getting quite a few pairs done at the same time (both for these projects and a few for stock) ... if anyone wants to tag a pair or two onto the order then I'm happy to pass on the discount - cost is approx. £45 per caliper for electroplating - slightly cheaper if you just want them painting. You need to let me know before Sunday 9th November 2014.

A reasonable collection.

Hi Chris,

That's a good price, I brought a pair of recon calipers from Robsport for my FHC last month and even with my discount they cost more, oh well a month too late !

Cheers John

Hope you have better luck with your calipers John than I did a couple of years ago. Went through 4 new callipers from Robsport and every one leaked past the pistons. Ended up buying second hand ones and had them cleaned and painted and no problems since. Robsport did say that they were going to stop using the reconditioning company so hopefully quality has improved.

Hi Paul,

Cheers for the heads up on that, will keep an eye on my brake fluid level and when I take her into work put her on a lift and have look.

Cheers John
