Those were an ebay find about 8 years back Don. I had to shell out $20! [:D] There is a cigarette burn on the left side though.

Fastman- Are those off the shelf door cards??

Not sure why you're asking that Don but the plain black vinyl door cards could be found in the early coupes before they went to the plaid to counter the "it's too dark in here" complaint. They were then resurrected for the 1980 Spiders. While my original ones looked like new, they had the common "warp up" by the top rear corner. I replaced them with the ones from Victoria British which where on their Winter Sale that year for $200/pair. I was pleased to note the top third had a reinforced aluminum backing to prevent warping of the curve and had a replaceable rubber strip that goes against the window so when the rubber deteriorates it can be replaced rather than having to by new door cards.

I must admit that as much as I do like red plaid in a coupe, that solid black interior is absolutely stunning!!

I must show this to the wifey , as "she' was the one who just recently suggested this to me for my car ......

I had the same question, there must be some seats out there that are a good fit in the wedge. It costs an arm and a leg to rebuild original ones so that's not an option for most people.

I bought a second hand set of rover 400 leather seats, I used the covers and cut around the sponges from these to cover the TR7 frames, I had to weld the rover headrest brackets on to the TR frame but otherwise it was pretty straight forward.

Mine didn't cost much to rebuild at all. A couple of hundred pounds for the pair as I recall. That was a few years ago but being as mine are red tartan and I had to be fairly clever to get enough new red material to make up the seat backs I would have thought mine were more expensive than most. New diaphragms, new foams and a bit of welding to the seat frames was also required.

When first completed the seats were not as comfortable as usual but this was because the foam took a while to sink in a bit. After a month or so they were back to their best and have remained that way ever since. As Mike Cutmore said in 'A World Of Wedges', "the perfect driving position."
