Postby zekow1 » 25 Sep 2009 23:12

Hi guys
I am almost finished with th e rebuild.well my kind of rebuild nothing like what some of you are doing.

and I find myself with a small prblem.

The bottom cables :
air cond switch: Colors??
the cigarrete lighter???
and the dimmer.

I looked in all my books and the diagrams and I am too stupid to find it.
please take me out of my missery .

I spend most of my time looking for things instead of working in the car .
OH and I have several extra screws from somewhere????[:D]

If by cables/colors you mean wiring here's a pict. The order is the reverse shown. Cig lighter on left, Dimmer, A/C on the right.

Extra screws are par for the course, if you didn't I'd say you were short some to begin with. Unless you take picts of every screw you remove and package them and label them like it was a religion.

he cheched the cables and figured that the problem was in the <font color="red"><font face="Impact"><u>center dash</u></font id="Impact"></font id="red">center dash????
You heard right the <font face="Arial"><font color="green"><font size="3">center Dash</font id="size3"></font id="green"></font id="Arial">

He welded a cable between the second stripe on the connector to the + at the mini bulb and it worked ,14.5V and 110 amps.

Hi Zekow ....

(sorry to hijack your thread , but I have a question pertinent to your post)

My car has an intermittent alt/ign light problem , where the dash lights and gauges either don't work at all when you turn the key on, or cut out and/or come back to life when ever they feel like (makes relying on the car as a daily driver questionable at best)

I'm starting to feel my problem is not the alt (second rebuild) but maybe wire gremlins, and maybe similar to yours......

Any way you can describe exactly where on the dash or cluster your "magician" ran the new wire ? (you would not have a pic or two be change eh?)

Thanks

Ron.

HI Ron
No problemo ,actually happy to be of Help.
I believe your problem is a faulty dash " mother board" craking problem.
They get old ,the plastic start to crack resulting in an intermediate connect ,disconnect problem where it is cracked.
I'm including the change we made in the mother board by welding a cable . This is what you were referring to.
But also look at the other pics . Take a look at yours and if you see a crack , make the connection. weld carefully . but if you have many cracks?? try to see if you can find a used one in better shape . Rimmer sometime ago had used ones for sale .
Keep us informed.
