Thank you

finally talked to Dave the Tech guy at RF. He did not know if it needed the spacer or not. So again I ask, so I do not have to install, try it and have a 50 50 chance of needing it or not, Has anyone installed the upgraded, starter and did you use the spacer or not satisfactorily

Thanks

I used the spacer. It's not not very thick so wouldn't make much difference. A friend had used a Honda starter on his Spitfire (straight bolt on) and it was out 1/4" (can't remember if it was too far or not far enough). Seemed to work well enough.

Left mine out when I fitted the new high torque starter. No problems.

Thanks. I appreciate the fact that it does not seem to make a difference. I believe I will go ahead and install it as then I will have it if I need to replace sometime in the future

I fitted mine without the spacer a couple of years ago, no obvious problems with it since, works well
