eBay Punt - new brake MC

Postby omichaelshar » 01 Nov 2008 03:49

I just took a punt and bid on a PBR Holden Commodore (VB VC VH VK) Brake Master Cylinder and got it for the starting price of AU$100 (US$66 / GBP41).

I think it is the same unit that was used in the following conversions:

Time will tell...

Will the master fit on your existing booster or are you using another booster.I got a bit of info off someone off the site see attached..............

I bought the system off Triumph Rover Spares in Adelaide as I did not know exactly what was required (ie what model etc), just that it was a Commodore set up. Now that I have it I can tell you it is from a V8 VS Commodore and it fitted up exactly.

The master cylinder is a bog standard PBR 15/16" model which you should be able to pick up new for not much money from Repco etc, and I wouldn't think the booster would be too expensive either. You need to remove the proportioning cylinder from the suspension turret and bend a few brake lines, but that is it.

The brake warning light wiring hooks up as well if memory serves me well, but I couldn't get the light in the dash to go off (the brake fluid level light) and couldn't be stuffed trying to trouble shoot the problem so just undid the bulb half a turn and, voila! No more annoying light...one day when I have a lot more time I will figure it out.

Hope that will help out Owen

Thanks John.

The MC I have purchased is a bog standard PBR 15/16" model. I am still seeking a booster, but will now limit my searches to VS models.

Were you able to ascertain if TRS made any mods to either unit?

Hi Owen not sure if TRS made any mods to it I have tried a VS V6 AND A VR V6 booster with no luck so it would need to be the VS V8 booster.

OK - Thanks John for this advice. It's low on my priorities, but I will keep looking. I feel a trip to pick and pay less may be on the cards.
