tr7 with a ls1 5.3 v8

well i just want to tell some one out there that with a stock 5.3 v8 converted to carb, turbo 350 , ford 9 inch rear end , 4.11 gears . the tr7 now runs 11.5 @ 115.0 mph . in the 1/4 mile.

the tire size is 26- 9.5 hooiser slicks , i will tell you that it is a kick in the pants whin you let the trans brake go at 3500 rpm. i doo have pictures of car still trying to find out how to post.

If you are close enough, the TRF Summer Party in Aug is where you need to bring that beast. I have it from a pretty good source that the Drag Strip will be a definite go this year. I'll be there but my best so far is 14.20. I'm confident it would break into the 13s with more traction/launch ability. Really need, or should I say want, a LS differential but finances are a problem at the moment. Track days are my #1 priority but the drags are addictive.[}:)]

Triumphest is an event that is much closer to you.

It rotates between CA, NV and AZ(?). This year is in San Luis Obispo California.

I have not been to it in the past, and this year is about 12 hours of driving away, so if I happen to go, it will not be in the TR8.

It is an event that I would like to go to someday. If it is ever in San Diego, then I might trust the car for a 4 hour drive to the event.

Rob, Rob, Rob. Don't be so timid. There may a contigent from our club going down this year, myself included. 3,668 kilometer round trip of 40+ hours. Acrossed an international border (albeit the longest undefended border in the world, militarily speaking) where by then passports will be required (for the first time). Now that will be a journey.

It has been over a year since my car has stranded me, so I am starting to get a little more agressive, but that is whole new level going on a twelve hour drive.

I still get a little nervious going to Phoenix (one hour each way).

Any car could fail on the wrong day. On Christmas day we passed a BMW passed out on the side of the road with the bonnet up. The driver was stood there scratching his head.

My car happily does 4-5 hour trips (that is a 5 hour trip done in 4 hours) without a hitch although it has been known to lapse into unconciousness between point A & point B once or twice. But this is usually because of something I forgot to tighten & I have always gotten going again within 30 minutes. Always pack a good toolbox & carry a full range of fluids.

oh my heart bleeds ... as nice as I would like to visit California again ... I have my TR6, my E-Type and bought my TR7 in CA ... the TR7 I stayed - the others I have invested into the house ... The TR6 with hardtop looks just great (with the hood I do not like it)

I hope this year I again x California and visit my friends in San Jose and San Francisco again - I love this stain Earth

Personally I doubt it - with experience from the similar border between Norway and Sweden,
and the definitelly NOT similar border between Finland and the Soviet Union/Russia:
You _can_ cross both of them undetected.
In the first case: however much you want to be detected!
And in the second case: It's possible if you _really_ want to...

So I doubt DHD can plug it shut. They cannot keep the southern border shut, so how on earth
should they be able to do it up north?! Not without laying the longest Corea type mine field in the world...

They do have monitors on dirt roads etc that cross the border with mounted patrols in between, radiation monitors at major crossings (like Blaine, Washington), they had a hit on someone that had just had a barium injection and after confirming it with his doctor they let him go on his way (he was of arab descent), drug/explosive sniffing dogs. They do have guns (every good american has to have one,[:D]). At the Canadian border there was a big to do about whether they should be armed or not, I can't remember how that came out. Last time I've been over the border it was "Where were you born", "where are you going", "for how long", "Business or pleasure" and your on your way. If you got something to hide they are good at catching it. There is a new reality program about US border that I am finding interesting, where they ,so far, cover: Blaine, Washington, Ambassador Bridge (Detroit), La Guardia airport, LAX airport, and I believe San Diego/Tijuana crossing.

If you want to go over I'm sure you could get over, in the east there is a small town library building were the entrance is the US and the exit is in Canada.

No military though and they are not cops. They have no jurisdiction to enforce local or state laws.

FYI, we Canadians don't want to sneek into the Unied States.[8D]
