In line fuse

Postby samco » 21 May 2008 00:29

Located by the fuse box there is an in line fuse with brown wires to it. Does anyone know where this fuse holder is supposed to live and what does it do

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

At a guess, could it be a fused live for the radio, perhaps a later addition!

It's the headlamp circuit breaker it's folded in or around the fusebox.

It has a brown and purple wire to it which goes to the relay for the hazard warning lights.

If it doesn't fit you obviously need a bigger hammer.

Well Lucas wiring did follow a code & as far as I can find out a brown wire with a purple tracer would be a direct unswitched but fused live supply from the battery.

However if it is a purple wire with a brown trace then it would be horn fuse to horn relay when horn is fused separately.

Brown with purple sounds more likely as I guess the hazard lights would have a direct live feed so that they could be activated any time.
