Shown is control arms I got from Launie's abandoned project after one has been through my anti rust machine.

There is no rust on the top one despite what you see. I think my paranormal Olympus camera when used with flash superimposes a 10% image of some rusty corresponding part in a breakers yard in the UK some 5,000 miles away.

The same thing happened in my other post.

Good work!

John, the process used here is electrolysis - described quite well here: http://www3.telus.net/public/aschoepp/electrolyticrust.html.

It's a great way of getting rid of rust - first of all there's no real hard work involved, and secondly, it gets rid of all the rust - rather than just the bits you can get to!

Excellent article Red. I pick up on it about 5 years ago from the "Neanderthal tool maker" web site, a site about antique tools. (The guy was from UK.) A preferred method as the metal doesn't get used and only rust is converted. If you use stainless steel as the anode (I use a large bolt I picked up from recycler after picture was taken) it doesn't get used up in the process. Also for pieces that are fully submerged I use a battery cable as intermediate to protect battery charger clip.

Easy way to clean parts might be worth making something up to dip parts into.
