Just cut the seatbelt mounting out of my car yesterday:

As you can imagine, that wouldn't have lasted a second if I'd crashed.

When you think about it, that's a pretty daft design - two bits of metal, not even welded together properly (so a perfect water trap), sat right at a point in the wheelarch where it's going to get constantly sprayed with water, stones and grit. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Might be worth checking yours....

ouch!

Good that you found it now. It is at least a warning to other people with project cars, although i presume that anyone restoring a car is clever enough to hunt all rust down.

But it makes you wonder, what would have happend if...
