Hoodliner on ebay

Postby RJS » 10 Apr 2008 22:22

Anyone use something like this?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Triumph-TR7-TR8-Hood-Liner-Heat-Shield-With-Logo_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ020QQitemZ300214719794QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

The only reason I am even considering this is because my hood has a few large bubbles on it. It was that way when I got my car, and I was never sure if it was because it is a bad paint job (very possible), or if the hood got to hot from engine heat or something like a blown hose.

Any other reasons someone would use this?

Rob

Yeah, and fire retardant.Only thing that worries me is that although
its water proof, will it trap water against the hood, rather than let
it drain off? I do like it for looks though.

See ya. Paul

Hi Rob we purchased this piece of kit and I have put a set on our 7 it looks good and does reduce the noise and also protects the bonnet(hood) from the engine heat.
Make sure you get a good adhesive though.
We also have a set to put on the v8 when I get round to fitting it.
Regards Moe

Nice idea. Looks good

But with my V8 on a single pipe exhaust it's at the wrong end of the car to reduce noise.

I don't have any bonnet clearance issues now but it might just snag on the pancake filter

The bonnet doesn't overheat in hot weather but the engine bay doesn't need any extra insulation

Cheers,

Adam

I was gonna'make plates from thin ally sheet, but decided it was too
much trouble - what if it vibrated, trapped water, how to fix in place,
etc.etc.Thought about lining with mirror film, but would show up the
imperfections underneath.Seeing as Moe's done this and is happy with
it,i Paypal'ed the seller today and bought one with a silver decal.
Not bad for fifty quid, the ally or mirror film would be about that.
If it works on the v8,i'll get one for the auto.
Oohhh!what will the purists think!

See ya. Paul

I can see absolutely no advantage in this ! I wondered if it was the same seller as the 'mpg' device - or perhaps it's a 1st April entry ?

I can see absolutely no reason whatsoever for trapping the heat in the engine bay!
Any way to get it out of there is good, even as radiation out through the bonnet sheet metal!
Every little bit will help the total effort!!!

Looks kewl.I took the bonnet/hood off to make it easier to do.Also
decided against spray adhesive and used contact adhesive spread on
both surfaces to be glued.
