** Ally Hickman Award **

Postby jclay (RIP 2018) » 09 Mar 2008 17:49

Hello,

Hasbeen suggested that we make an Ally Hickman Award for anyone that successful installed the rear C-clip on the rear slave cylinders.

I don't know exactly why, but Ally was more to this Forum than a young lady who owned a TR7. She had a great sense of humour, loyalty to her family, a love for Spits, TR7s and Simon, a strong dislike for special tools and on her own organized meetings in her area for TR7 owners.

I would like to respectfully suggest that we do have an "Ally Hickman Award". It should be given by the membership of this Forum to members that have brought Leadership, Helping Experience and Kindness to our group.

Thanks you,

jclay

Would a TRDC concours trophy be a possibility too?

What a great idea, and maybe have a Ally Hickman award each year in her honor, i was only chatting with Ally the day before she died its still hard to believe, so yes i think the whole idea would be a fitting tribute to her.

Though never met her or talked to her it was clear from this forum and what others who did know her that she exemplified the best in what is the TR7/8 owner namely:
- Love of the Wedge
- Pride of ownership and of a job done by oneself reguardless of the
unrulyness of weather or obstacles of the job.
- Keen to interact with others.
- Last but not least, her time well spent bettering the lot of one set of God's creatures (greyhouds) that can't help themselves.

She definitely set a standard that we would all do well to strive for. Most appropriate to have an annual award in her name.

Think it's a great idea [:D]

Can't believe that today it's six months on already [:(]

KBA's still running though I've not taken her out in ages, need to sort out the tuning of the engine so she doesn't stall at every junction... I will get it sorted soon though! [:)]

What would the TRDC award be for? we already have numerous awards for concours, etc, As part of the commitee I could suggest something at next commitee meeting, but would need to be unique, worthwhile, etc and presumably female related.

"Leadership, Helping Experience and Kindness"

Do you have any members in the TRDC that would qualify on those requirements?
