One light good . . . .

Postby Philip » 22 Nov 2007 09:45

Two lights better !

I put the headlmaps on thi smorning (first time for about 6 months)and the passenger side (left) lifted but the right had one just lights up the road !

Flashing the lights does the same thing.

I know this is commonplace, but where do I start to look ?

By the way does anyone have an exhaust manifold gasket on their car ?

Still standing !

i would start by cleaning all the connections then have a look at the relays in the glove compartment changing the Horn relay with the LH light relay etc. probably not the pektron unit as both would fail and this only really operates the flash.

the other item that is prone to failure is the main light switch again have a look atr the connections spray with WD etc

Probably a loose/corroded connection at the front.
No gasket here.

Philip,

Check the contact strip on the offending head light, probably one of the contacts is corroded.

I had the same problem over the summer. In my case (same symptoms as yours) it was the limit switch / diode pack on the side of the motor. The brass strip was not lifting enough to break the contact and run the light up, but if I wound the light up by hand (Disconnect the battery first) then switched off, both pods would go down.
