Hi there

I have just rebuilt my seats so it is all fairly fresh in my mind. Not sure if you mean the backrest frame, or the cover and cushion. Happy to help if I can!

Hello John and thanks for replying ,
I mean the metal back frame from the Base frame as my Base has broke and one of the poles has snapped.

The head rest pulls out of the seat back.
The seat back does not seperate from the seat base (or squab)-this is a factory made assembly, sorry if this is going to make your repairs more complicated. Having to repair the seat frame at the back corners is not uncommon due to wear and tear and stress created when entering/leaving the car etc.
Enjoy & regards

This is a common place for it to break. It can be welded but a gusset should be added to make it stronger than stock or it will break again. It breaks over time with repeated pushing back against it to get the keys out of your front pocket. It can't stand up against this extra ordinary force. Take your keys out before you get in the car. If I do forget I make sure I'm not putting any force against the seat back.

Hi,

As said by others a common area of breakage, to be honest not the best metal to weld either. Another point to bare in mind its within 30 cm of seat belt mount so also a MOT failure if you live in the UK not to mention the obvious safety implication anywhere in the world !

Cheers John
