What glue?

Postby trekcarbonboy » 13 Jun 2015 16:29

What kind of glue do I use on the seat foam? To the frame and to itself? Also for that hardboard piece that needs fastening to the side. I got the kits from VB and the small gusset piece on the sides need to be moved to the proper spot.

For seat foam you want a glue that will remain flexible after it is set, so something like a contact cement or my favorite - Shoe Goo. The nice thing about a contact cement is that it doesn't take long to work; you let it air out a bit to get tacky, then put the pieces together and they are done. For other glues you may need to let them dry for a while before you can keep working on the seat. With either of those glues you are likely to see the foam next to the seam fail before the glue ever does.
