Starting without coolant?

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Starting without coolant?

Postby REPLIC8 » 26 Sep 2014 18:49

I want to drain and flush the cooling system on my car outside before I put it up on ramps in the garage. Is it OK to start the car with an empty cooling system for a minute or so to just drive it into the garage and up on ramps? Don't want to unwillingly cock something up!

May be OK but only for a Very short duration.
I have only ever done it just to prove it would start then switched off immediately.

I would completely agree with Russ on this. It will be OK but for the shortest possible time.
