Possible new addition--am I nuts?

Hi,Everyone!
Oh, my....I always thought I was a "One Triumph" kind of gal. [:I] Then, I received an email about this car that was found in a storage shed/barn. I went to take a look and quickly found out otherwise [;)]
and I know there is enough love in my heart for my Spidey and another 7. Room in my garage? Now that is another matter altogether! [:D] Heehee. Body has 2 small dents, interior is decent (carpet is yucky but the floorpans looked good, the seats and dash look great), engine is intact but condition is unknown.

I am fully aware of the problems a non-op car can have (this car was last registered in 2003). I understand the $ that goes into fixing one up (already did that with the Spider). My mechanic will be giving the car the once over and then will get back to me. Assuming I have his blessing, I think I will go for it.[:)] It is my intention that this car will be my "autoclass on wheels" and I am hoping to learn as I go. (I think Mildred would be proud! [^]) It could be a fun project for my subhubs and I to tackle together. Yes, DH continues to be indifferent to LBCs but indulges my passion anyway. For just $400, I think this has potential. Give me a holler and let me know what you think. If anybody understands the yearning for a 2nd--or 3rd, or 4th[:0] Wedge--I know it would be you! [:D][8D][:X]

I know it`s only a small pic but it does not look to be in too bad a condition, and I really like the wheels.

Nuts? Well, probably. Aren`t we all with this hobby?

Good luck.

I think that you don't have to be crazy to buy a 2nd wedge but let's hope it helps. [:D] Good luck with your new challenge.

I couldn't resist the urge for a 2nd wedge when I boutght the v8 from John. Garage space was an issue so it had to live outside for a while and then my daughter bought a house with a garage she doesn't use so now one of them always lives there. Having two means lots more mechanical suff but also that the one doesn't have to do so many miles each year [:)]

If the price and condition are right I'd say go for it [:D]

This is a 30th Anniversary car hence the plaque. The wheels have been changed. I have never seen a steering wheel in that color in a TR7. If those are the velour seats, you have the same interior as my 30th Anniversary car. Pinstripe also matches mine.

30th Anniversary cars:
Dash Plaque
Special wheels with chrome trim rings
A/C
Boot Rack
AM/FM Cassette radio
TR8 Steering Wheel
All black interior trim
Laural Wreath front Decal
No external badges (2 Litre, BL Cube)
Most had Pinstriping
Electric Radio antennas

MH is it in your driveway yet? What are you waiting for? Even as a parts car it worth looking over to see what condition it is in! I have 2 TR8s in my garage.....why not 2 TR7s?

For $400.00 heck yeah. if the body is relativly rust free and straight it is deff worth it!

I am just finishing up the same....(actually my car appears to be the same color too LOL) Bought mine from Craigslist for $500.00. Body is straight and basically rust free, but engine was shot. Picked up a great running 2.0L w/modded TR8 radiator, full exhaust including ceramic coated header and some other nessessary bits for about $1100.00. All total as of now I have about $1800.00 invested and so far seems to be a good running daily driver.

Good luck if ya got the room and the cash go for it!! [;)]

Ms Monica,

There will always be temptations in life. The trick is trying to figure out which temptation to fall for. With 4-wheel temptations, the real issue comes down to having the PROPER FACILITIES to store and fix it in. While we still breath and are ambulatory, time can be spent gradualy on fixing the various bits & pieces of the project. Having a project in the driveway leads to it's ever quickening decomposition. You need covered space, lot's of it. For a car project, the ideal is a single car alone in a two car garage, 400 square feet.

A project will need space for the car as well as the work bench and tools for the tasks to be encountered.

It seems this topic has been chewed over before. Does anyone remember a similar thread dealing with project ancillary needs? The wet and cold weather is flaring the arthritis in my fingers and affecting my mental processes. There should be some writings in the forums that dealt with these needs.

Hey, it happened to me, it could happen to any one. I was not looking for another TR7 but for $100 and only 30,000 miles on a relatively rust free body I couldn't turn it down. As for stored for 5 years remember my Spider was stored for 7 years and it drove from Sacramento to home with no problems. This gives you an excellent chance to learn how to work on a seven while you drive the Spider as long as you have a place to store it while you're doing it.

The wheels aren't stock for a 30th Anniversary Special, they look the same as Orange Rag's son's green coupe has on his car. They are similar to the Stag's alloys. I wonder about the history of the steering wheel, is it aftermarket or a painted TR8 wheel (can't see that holding up from scuffing).

Great find, you have to go for it. Post more pictures.

Do you stroke your TR7 when you walk past it? If you do then your sufficiently addicted to get another one...

def not nuts......

take it from someone who been there, done that, sold it, promptly regreted, and now would want another........

Go for it, at that price you can't go wrong, even if it ends up being far too much of a project, you can easily do like I (bang-head) did and possibly double you money reselling if you get cold feet. Heck if I would have had the extra coin, there are at least two project cars that I could/should have bought this year.............[B)][:(][V]

Guess I should start to save my pennies....just in case a "certain" race car, ever goes up for grabs!

Ron.
