It should fit as stevie_a says, but it looks as if someone has removed the lugs on the rain channel for the clips (see stevies pic) so that a continuous seal strip can be fitted. Try pulling the seal strip off to see if the have bent them down to fit the rubber strip. There are also a couple of short lugs on the bulkhead about 6" down which the bottom flange sits in.

Is that a 16v engine you have there? If that is the case, that might be the problem... I've seen them on ebay modified to fit the V8 with the pancake air filter - in which case you may have to do a bit of "panel-beating2 on the guard to fit

The really early cars had the air duct held in place with two screws, directly into the firewall.

Yep, that's true, I was just going to type that. You guys that have the clip on type - be glad. The screw type is sometimes a pain to install.

It is a 16v engine so that may be the trouble. If it's gonna play up I will put it in the pending pile[:D]

Thanx to stevea for the pic.Corr I wish my engine bay looked like that! Hey zoe.I have lost ur details with all thats going on here[:(].The gearbox swap is postponed until next week as with the weight of it and all we are going to use a proper fitted out garage with a pit but my Husbands mate can't let us have use of it until next Thursday.I have all the bits ready so next week fingers crossed I will be mobile again.I have satisfied myself with trying to make this damn fume thingy fit but too many pipes and engine bits are in the way[V].So then I thought about applying my car info sticker set but realised I did not know where to put them[:0].So I just polished my TR again and put it away till Thursday[:p].

Steph, with the Sprint engine that is not going to fit unless you modify it.
Or find another way of getting fresh air into the cabin.
This is how I solved the problem ...

There is a downside if you don't use th efresh air duct. If it rains or you wash the car water can get into the tube of spark plug number 4.
