Ssssshhhh Mildred. Don't be slapping that oar on the water when the fish is about to bite.

First you fall in love then find out she snores.

My New Zealand friend,

'Tis always better to know about the snoring before rather than later. And, a whole lot cheaper as well. A true and lasting love thrives on each others pecularities and foibles. Pecularities like the way the poly bushings creak and squeak like my joints in the first mile or so on a cold morning. Foibles like the notchy gearbox in the first mile of the day and the inherent cold bloodedness of the Z-S carburetors until they reach their optimum operating temperature of about 100 degrees F.

What else? Aah, yes. The weekly oiling of the carburetor stalks on the Z-S. The need to cock ones head over to avoid a concussion when getting into the car if ones height is over 5'5" in the FHC. The mysterious, yet so easy to fix, steering wheel wobble at 55mph. Yes, endearing little quirks to make the passing years so much more interesting. These are the things of a true love.

Once again, the male of the species utterly fails to comprehend the female of the species need to expound intelligently on the cogent topic. At our local cafe are a variety of signs and plaques on the wall over the cash register with views on the male/female relationship. The last one on the left says, "She will always have the last word in an argument. Anything he says next will be the start of a new argument."

In my experience, & I've only been married once so I'm no expert, men can usually get the last word as long it is "sorry".

All cars drain your bank account & old cars are worse because they so clearly deserve more. Long after they ought to have been parted out hard earned money is thrown at classic cars because that sense of attachment clouds the mind. But I would not have bought my TR7 if I knew upfront what it was going to cost me - 3 x the purchase price so far. That would have been obviously financially irresponsible. Instead I would have bought another TR7 of which I had no such foresight of future costs. [:D] The assumption that the car will be the source of cheap thrills is how we end up with cars that become the centre of our weekend lives because we can no longer afford to pursue our old hobbies. It's a honey trap where you get to keep the honey but like all traps it only works when the prey is unaware of it.

Speaking for myself of course.

Dearie ! Calm down blue rinse grandma. I am not trying to start a handbag fight here. Can we keep this on topic please.I came here for friendly help and advice from experts.Without attacking anyone in particular I mearly stated the fact that garage or private sale Tr7 or brand new car the seller will always talk to the man.Only mentioning the 'nice colour' or 'handy vanity mirror' to the woman. If you have read my posts from the start you will know I have run a classic ford for yrs and know my gudgeion pin from my elbow.I am quite aware of the attached hassles with any classic car.
If anyone is still reading I am seeing a white convertible tommorow nr me.It's on e-bay if you wanna see it.I don't hold out much hope though as the seller has the rider 'cherished plate' so thats £1500 for the car and £1500 for the plate.Get outta here! I will keep you posted.

Hiya.

You and your white cars!

Looks nice - from what you can see in the photos. Sounds like a bit of a bull it up type of seller though!

Oi. Don't be rude. We're just posting here. Every thread is alowed to get a bit frayed & those that stay strictly on topic are the boring ones.

Good luck with the white convertible. White is a good colour for the wedge. Can the car & the plate be sold separately?

Hi Steph,
Good luck tomorrow, take a copy of Wayne's list, anything you are not sure about then take a digi camera and post a picture on here. White at the moment is real popular on new cars, funny how these things come around again!!
Please let us know how it goes,
Cheers John

Looks clean - the registration number isn't worth as much as 1O or 1HRH though...

What's with the pink strut-brace? [I assume it IS a strut-brace...]
I must say I agree about white being the next silver!

Steph, if its not too late, when you look at the white one take it for a long run and watch the temp gauge and ask if its had any over heating issues or head problems. I assume there were crossover models (and owner mods too) but it has a 'later' air intake box but early rad (and presumably expansion bottle on the o/s wing). The thermostat housing looks like a later one turned through 180 deg to suit with a long flexi hose taken over the cam cover. Obviously, the standard fan has been replaced with a draw through electric item. Just a thought and no doubt the historians here will be able to correct me.

Steph.... So what happened? Was it a good one, or couldn't you find it in the snow? That's the trouble with white cars...!
