Bill beat me to posting the dimensions - there is no MP3 socket on this cheap radio, but if you need that there is a company on your side of the Atlantic that makes one - at a price. Web address http://www.retrosoundusa.com/products/details/id/1

I was going to ask what the sound quality was like BUT;

Mine's a DHC and I don't often drive with the hood up.

The V8 with single pipe exhaust makes it's own music.

I've still got the original speakers!

There's been a hole where a radio should be for too long now.

I've got one of those small FM transmitters that fits on the bottom of the IPOD so won't need MP3 compatability. (The quality isn't the greatest but it's got to compete with the V8)

The dash is coming out of the car over the winter to sort out the bypassed heater matrix, so I might as well fit this in at the same time.[:)]

Have just emailed Martin a copy of the manual for the Sendai radio - if anyone else wants one, drop me a line.

I notice the Sendai CD/radio is now reduced to £29.99 in the Halfords sale. There is no radio in my new car so was thinking about getting one of these.

Actually they are not bad. I bought one for one of the Saabs until I get around to fitting the Kenwood changer system. My only criticism (bearing mind I am tone deaf) is that the display is a very bright mauve!
I think they have been around that price for a while if you order on line for collection in store, mine was some months ago. Lots of their things are a bit cheaper bought in this way so its worth checking online first.

A review of this unit (found on the web) from a year ago does not bode well for long term performance......

--------------------------------------------------------------"
Good Points: A very nice looking unit with the face off feature we all expect these days. The display on the front can be backlit red or blue, while you can key in your own message to display on the screen.

Bad Points: Operation is fiddly with too many tiny buttons with lettering o symbols too small to see. Poor bass response, though to be fair this could have been the speakers

General comments: After less than a year this pleasant looking Sendai CD688, though disappointing performer, has ceased to function as a CD player. The radio still works though drifts off statio easily. A budget unit, but I'd still expect several years of steady operation from it.

"------------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking for a radio to fit and I guess at £30 one cannot expect too much!

Is this the same unit? At the price it would not surprise me if the CD gave up after a while, but there is nothing in the instructions of mine about changing the backlight colour (although red might not be too good either), or anything about entering your own message (why would you want to?). It's lasted about 3 months so far and is still OK!

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately they don't ship internationally, just with the UK. I noticed that in your installation, you don't have A/C, so I'm not sure it would properly fit on a car that does have it. I'll have to keep looking...

I do believe JC-Whitney auto-parts does still sell cass/CD radios that are shallow enuff to fit. Thats where I got mine, but I cannot find the paperwork on the model/number. Just measure the specific depth you can fit, and page thru thier catalog, Im sure they still sell that size chassis.
