CHROME EXTERIOR DOOR MIRRORS

Postby tr7inc » 20 Feb 2009 06:40

Hi guys just a quick question, one thing i always thought would look nice on my 7 and again its only my preference, ive always liked the american style square chrome mirrors sinilar style to those on the Gran Torino etc , my question was this i know Rimmers etc stock the Bullit style mirrors but is the anywhere that sell the square type that would fit the 7??

Many thanks and again its not to everyones taste on these cars, but i have always liked that style mirror on a classic.

Have you tried TEX Automotive?

http://www.texautomotive.com/classic_exterior_mirrors.html

I used to have some black ones on my 7, but they are cr@p. If anyone wants them, let me know.

The TEX convex ones are much better and have locking screws on the mirror that will lock the mirror in place. No more adjusting the mirrors each time you close the door or drive faster than 40 MPH.

The first black ones were originally silver/chrome sprayed satin black.

Paul...someone in UK has a Starsky & Hutch torino?? Thats pretty cool. I was (and still am!) a big fan of that old show. I even had a 1976 Torino done up like the car on the show years ago.

~tr7inc, If I remember right, didnt Roadster Factory (in PA) sell Chrome replacements for the wedge?

Hi Jclay, im gonnas give them a ring on Monday for prices etc, i take it they fit the same holes etc as the standard TR7 ones if thats not too daft a question, im also looking at the crome wiper blades as i originally took my wiper arms off to respray, but when i took the black off with very fine steel wool it came up lovely so i think im goona stick with that, so might invest in some chrome wiper blades to just to be a bit different.

I've suffered from FMS (Floppy Mirror Syndrome)for years.. why didn't I know this before!!!

I have the original fitment but in Chrome.. They've been utter crap, not cheap and all tarnished/pitted in no time and floppy as well. The chrome on the mounts remain perfect however. Bought them from a reputable dealer at Stonleigh a couple of years ago. Looks like new Tex mirrors for me then!

The Tex ones arent quite original spec as the stem is a different shape, straight on one side. They are a good replacement. The originals can be stripped down and tightened to avoid them dropping.

Yes they usually do, better to use the original bases as the new ones are plastic.
I think yoiu would be better off stripping the original mirrors down and spraying them in satin black, Ive just done a pair for our Coca Cola car.
