Three prize cars from a 1978 competition jointly run by Levis Jeans and Coca Cola. A colleague of my father won one of the cars initially having made copious use of the company's computer to generate the maximum number of words from the list of letters given. Bl00dy cheat!

Each of the cars was in Coke livery with a Levis blue jean style interior and a fridge in the boot. Chris Turner's Coke car can be seen in the DVD... and the funny thing is, I was tempted to buy that one myself when Robsport had it up for sale. Sadly common sense got the better of me!!!

I've been watching that one Steve - it's been on before without selling & the starting price has come down about £700. I also asked the seller a few questions the first time it was on, does sound a very straight car. And it's down our way ........

Sadly I have nowhere to keep it so feel free to bid Steve[:D]

I saw the ebay Coke car at the TR register meet in 2006. It was for sale then. Very tidy. I wonder what the reserve is?

John, my car was the first one to be won, even though it was the last to be registered. The one on Ebay is better than mine, in fact I am thinking about buying it to fill my vacant space. The third car is in very poor condition and was sold by Robsport to a chap in Ireland, it was last seen at the docks waiting for the ferry. I am in contact with the original owner of my car who has given me copies of the letters he received after winning the competition My son Robert has done an excellent article which will be in the next issue of TR Driver.

I still remember the contest. I had always thought it was North America contest, I probably saw it featured in a magazine like Road & Track which was an american magazine had a lot of foreign content (ie featured european cars), followed F1 etc.

Is the interior like the original? I seem to remember it different.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the answer, great having copies of winning letter [:D] I look forward to the article in the next magazine. I am sure i have an article somewhere that says that part of the cars were made here in Luton poss some of the trim as the town was full of clothing manufactures back then. Will do a search this weekend.
Go for it Chris, then you would own 2/3 of the world supply of Coke cars!!
Cheers John

I have been very tempted, I've watched him reduce the price 3 times. I spoke to him too but he was a little abrupt. Can't really find time or space in my life at the moment but if it was cheap enough! I've got too many cars what with daily driver, wife's, 2 grown-up kids and business vehicles. I already have to tell people that the TR's are my "stamp collection" cars because they cannot understand otherwise!

Might be able to squeeze 1 more in though in the future (God Spare Life). No I'm not thar religeous but I've always liked that expression!

Thanks, John Clancy. I had never heard of these before.

After seeing the pics, it is cool looking - very 70's.

So I guess that makes it groovy looking!

Hi,
I thought i read it somewhere there was a connection with Luton, the conversions were carried out by a local company called 'Star Vans' in early summer 1978. This is mentioned in the article about Chris car in the 'original' (and IMHO better Triumph World [;)]) dated April/May 2006 recommended read for those intrested in these 3 cars.
Cheers John.
