Triumph TR7 Hazard Lights Problem

My hazard lights sort of flick on and off really quickly and would not pass an MOT. I have a spare indicator relay with an earth in a box somewhere. Is this the same thing as the hazard relay? Thought id try the relay first then strip the switch. Anything else I should check

The car is getting used most days now. I love it. The list of winter jobs is getting bigger. For a car that's been off the road 20 years. It's been great since me and my mechanic mate got it running in May.

Yes the flasher unit is near the fuse box (looks like the one for the indicator)

Have you checked all the actual bulbs are flashing quickly as well? Check the earths carefully because this will effect the flash rate.

Its also possible that the main flasher has been changed to an electronic unit, but the hazard flasher is still the original thermal device which is much less reliable. Another possibility is that someone has changed the bulbs to LED's?

The indicators are fine. They all flash ok. Definitely not got led

I'll try the flasher unit when I get a chance this week. How come earth the new one? A self tapper somewhere?

To me this indicates that an incorrectly rated flasher unit has been fitted to the hazards. supercass
