Seat Straps

Postby Rblackadar » 23 Apr 2010 01:49

Hello all,
I got my passenger seat frame stipped and painted with POR 1. Now I'm putting the rubber straps on the seatback and was wondering how much slack these things are supposed to have??? They are not falling out of the holes just sitting there but they are not exactly tight either. I know when the cushion gets put on followed by the cover the arcing shape will put some tension on it, but not sure exactly how tight thse things are supposed to be. Input appreciated and pics will be posted soon. Thanks all!!![;)]

I would think they should be tight to get some back support but don't know how to get them that way as I haven't been there. I replaced the rubber diaphram seat bottoms using the cord tightening method where my wife held the cord tight while it took all my strength to hook up the hooks. Firmed up the seats nicely. I would think the back straps should be nice and tight as well.

I just recovered my seats. My straps were just tight enough so when I hooked them there was a small amount of tension. Thinking I needed new ones I had S&S send me two used sets with the used covers. They were nearly identical to my originals. I installed them and the seat backs seem to be right. So now I have a spare set if anyone needs them.
